Traffic-related First Aid

Skovlunde Driving School offers traffic-related first aid courses for our students. Our skilled instructor is ready with the latest equipment in the field to provide you with an engaging and educational course, which is usually held on selected weekends. Contact the driving school for further information.

It is a legal requirement to complete a traffic-related first aid course before you can obtain your first driving license in Denmark. The course must be 8 hours long and includes both basic resuscitation (4 hours) and traffic-related first aid (4 hours).

The course must be completed no later than when you register for the practical driving test.

If you have a driving license for tractor and motorized equipment, category TR/MR, you do not need to submit a first aid certificate when applying for a car driving license. Your tractor license counts as your first acquisition of a driving license.

If you have a driving license for a small moped, category LK, you can reuse your traffic-related first aid certificate for young moped drivers under the following conditions:

  • You can reuse your first aid course for young moped drivers when obtaining a car driving license if the certificate is no more than one year old when submitted to Citizen Service (Borgerservice).

  • If your first aid certificate for young moped drivers is no more than three years old when submitted to Citizen Service, it can also be used when applying for a car driving license, provided that you have completed an additional 4 hours of traffic-related first aid within the past year.

Why Traffic-Related First Aid?

The purpose of the first aid course is to prepare future drivers to act effectively in the event of traffic accidents until professional help arrives.

The course typically covers topics such as basic resuscitation (CPR), accident management, and how to provide first aid for various injuries and conditions that may occur in traffic.

The certificate for traffic-related first aid required for a driving license is valid for one year. This means that a maximum of one year may pass from the time you complete the course until Citizen Service (Borgerservice) begins processing your application for a driving license.

Without a valid certificate in traffic-related first aid, it is not possible to obtain your first driving license.
